A Sketchpacker's Retreat

I just took a short 5-day trip to Cameron Highlands in Malaysia. Cameron Highlands is known as the "Golden Bowl of Malaysia" and home to a vibrant farming and famous tea production industry. It is also home to the highest peak in peninsular Malaysia, Gunung Brinchang. The last time I went there was in 2001 on a road trip with some friends. This time I went there not to sight-see or sample the fresh produce and tea of the area, but for a more specific purpose - I went for a personal retreat. We did do a little bit of sightseeing, but we spent more than half our time there in our room looking inward and upward. The weather was cool and the air was clean. It was a wonderful time of praying, thinking, reading. I didn't do many sketches this time, but I finished a small sketchbook that I brought along. Here are the entries:

  1. Thank you especially for the simplicity of some of the drawings. It reminds me that I don't have to draw anything too complicated, just a simple visual to make my point and remind me of good memories. Great stuff!
